On this thread Here forum member Retlaw posted two images of pages found in a service record. He believes they are men who were prisoners of war and sent postcards

Transcribed them here, with his permission and also that they may be found using the forum search or Google

Words in brackets are mine from looking up the names and numbers in the MIC's. Had a bit of a problem working out the locations of where they were from, if some bright spark can work them out from the original image (in the thread linked above) will amend the list. I put ??? for the places I can't work out

A long long time ago I posted a list (in Word format) of those records found on Ancestry service or pension records missorts section (I believe). It appears that the search facility having been updated cannot now go directly to those records. They used to be listed alphabetically A, B, C etc and after the Z option there was another choice (I dont think it was entitled missorts, but something of the sort to make me curious and take a look. I found dozens of odd scraps of records all jumbled up and did my best to produce a list of these.

I will see if I can find my backup of this word document as the laptop it was on is no longer in my possession.

Thank goodness for you Hywyn. I was about to panic as my backups do not contain it.

Thanks for the reminder. Well found that man.

Susan.

Caryl,

You have already found the MIC for 32254 Hill E in the first list!

The name under his looks like (Cotterhill) Cotterill R. so the MIC might be:

Cotterill, Robert

Corps Regiment No Rank

Lancashire Fusiliers 4964 Private

Lancashire Fusiliers 20233 Private

I have these records saved from my research into the two Royal Fusilier Sportsmans battalions and if any of them would be of any use to anyone then they can get in touch with me and I'll gladly pass them on.
