Regards Mark 'The only army Order (AO) for 1918 referring to the SWB: -' Army Order 291 Silver War Badge - October 1918 2. Under the amended conditions the badge will, subject in every case to the approval of the Army Council, be issued to the individuals specified below, who served with the Colours for at least seven days subsequent to the 4th August, 1914: (a) Disabled men who have served during the present war outside the British Islands, or have served in the field in any previous war. -b ) Disabled men who although they have not served as in (a) above, are in possession of Army Form B 2079 endorsed by the recruiting authorities to the effect that they have been found to be totally and permanently unfit for any form of military service; or who have left or been discharged on account of neurasthenia or allied functional nerve disease certified by a Special Medical Board to be the result of military service in the present war. c) Persons who have left or been discharged from the military forces for reasons other than misconduct, and who at the time of the receipt of their application for the award of their badge are over the military age specified in the Military Service Acts at that time in force. Only the first few men discharged under this amended Regulation got "A.O. 6 of 1918" written on their Medal Index Card. It was quickly changed to A.O. 291 of 1918.
