RobL Posted 21 June , 2010 Share Posted 21 June , 2010 I'm looking for period images of the FWD (Four Wheel Drive) lorries used by the British in the First World War, especially for towing 6 inch howitzers - can anyone help out? I've attached an image of the preserved one at Duxford to kick it off

Is there a definitive source of info on the colour of British Great War vehicles and equipment? I'm particularly keen to know what colour Guns would've been painted by default (acknowledging that camouflage schemes were applied on a rather ad-hoc basis). The "Firepower" museum in Woolwich has a very nice 18 Pdr with its associated kit (drag ropes, stadia rods etc) in a quite dark drab green which contrasts with the usual semi-gloss olive green or dark bronze green usually seen. Apologies for the hijack!
