Matt Dixon Posted 30 May , 2004 Share Posted 30 May , 2004 Can anyone tell me which regiments formed the 9th Division in the attack on the Hohenzollern Redoubt in the Battle of Loos please?
Landsturm Posted 30 May , 2004 Share Posted 30 May , 2004 Atleast the 73rd Brigade (including the 7th Northamptons) were detached from their division and sent in to reinforce the Scots. They had never been in trenches before. They had never even been under fire until their march up to Vermelles. When they took their turn in attacking the Redoubt they lost nearly half their number. Matt Dixon Posted 30 May , 2004 Author Share Posted 30 May , 2004 Thanks for that, am I right in assuming the 9th was an all Scottish affair?
Malcolm Posted 30 May , 2004 Share Posted 30 May , 2004 9th Scottish Division - most of the attack was by 28th Brigade. See the Long Long Trail as usual. Aye Malcolm
