ulsterlad2 Posted 12 June , 2010 Share Posted 12 June , 2010 Hello Pals. I've recently returned from my first visit to the Somme. One of my main objectives was to walk the Canadian areas of the battlefield. I've put some photos of the walk here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/44481319@N08/...57624129905915/

Nigel Marshall Posted 14 June , 2010 Share Posted 14 June , 2010 Great photos Robert. No trouble, I take it, walking the Albert - Bapaume Road? The photo of the Canadian Memorial entrance at Courcelette shows a quiet road! It looks like you had a good trip. Thanks for showing your photos. They bring back memories of a few of my trips, not just the one last March. Cheers, Nigel
ulsterlad2 Posted 14 June , 2010 Author Share Posted 14 June , 2010 Bob, Rick & Nigel. Thanks for your comments. They are really appreciated. Nigel, the trip was excellent. Just as you had pointed out, the Albert - Bapaume road was extremely busy. However, using your advice I made it to Courcelette in one piece. After visiting Bapaume Post I crossed over and walked facing the on coming traffic, keeping well into the left of the verge(s). I just got lucky with the photo at the Canadian Memorial and snapped it during a break in the traffic.
