And here's the other...

Arras Memorial, France

KEMP, Rifleman, FREDERICK, A/1310. 8th Bn. King's Royal Rifle Corps. 3rd May 1917. Age 19. Son of Albert and Annie Ranger, of The Gate, Effingham Common, Leatherhead, Surrey Bay 7

Notice slightly different name!

Not for the first time I am in your debt.

Now I've got the right surname I can find KEMP however KING still eludes me - I have tried searching on E KING and E J KING and it does not seem to bring him up.

Did you find him searching on surname and initials or by another method (eg service number)?

Thanks

Mike

Mike,

Hope you don't mind me jumping in on your thread but I can't find LCpl. Arthur Cawkell MM 2/Yorkshire regt. on CWGC. In fact there's only one Cawkell.

Thanks,

Roger.

Try looking under F.J.KING.

This was a scanning error which was corrected by CWGC after last June when the internet copy of the CWGC database was taken and so does not yet show up.

In the original register the letter 'E' is broken and looks like an 'F'.
