New CWGC Commemorations

CWGC added the following WW1 casualties to the Debt of Honour today.

2/Lt Joseph Bernard FAST

11 Air Park, Royal Air Force

Died 14.12.18

Commemoration: France (1914-1918) Memorial, Berks, UK

Lt Leonard Arthur HERBERT

Experimental Sqdn, Royal Air Force

Died 14.07.19

Commemoration: Brookwood (United Kingdom 1914-1918) Memorial, Surrey, UK

NOT FORGOTTEN

The above are In From the Cold Project cases found by myself.

- 2/Lt Fast died in crash of Camel (F1536) near Ghistelles

- Lt Herbert died in a mid-air collision near Farnborough, Hants

FAST, JOSEPH BERNARD Rank: Second Lieutenant Date of Death: 14/12/1918 Age: 22 Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force 11 Air Park Panel Reference Memorial BROOKWOOD (UNITED KINGDOM 1914-1918) MEMORIAL Additional Information:

Son of David and Rose Fast, of Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. Formerly served in the U.S. Army.

He has been moved from the France (1914-1918) Memorial to Brookwood UK 14-18.

CWGC has discovered from the RAF that he was originally buried in Ghistelles Churchyard, Belgium but later repatriated to the UK. He may have been buried here or sent to the USA.

Terry Denham informed me of this at lunchtime. Using the Illinois Roll of Honor his grave has been found at Rosehill Cemetery Chicago.
