stevem49 Posted 8 June , 2010 Share Posted 8 June , 2010 I have done some work for a lady who's uncle was wounded in the 'Michael' battles. He is buried at St Sever cemetery Extension, Rouen. I would be most obliged if someone could point me in the right direction to a photo online or could take a pic of his grave for me - Garton Leonard, Private 1/7th DLI, 78970, 30/03/1918. P. IX. STSEVERWALKER Posted 3 November , 2010 Share Posted 3 November , 2010 Hi John, It's ok and a pleasure for me to help you. I read all the page about Great Uncle. The web site is fantastic and so rich; have to go back to know much more about Newbattle people at war. It’s a pleasure for me to help people to get a picture connected to their ancestors; not allways easy when you’re so far away. And in return it’s a wonderfull moment when I receive information about a person buried here. Sometimes details of his life, job before war, dates, family, etc and more rarely a photo! With your great uncle I saw already all details and picture, a wonderfull one colorized). So that's my turn to work. Just be patient because weather now is awful. I need sun to make good photos. I'll keep you posted; Best regards from Rouen/Normandy. Bertrand ======= Hello Betrand If your kind offer still stands I would appreciate a photograph of my Great Uncles grave. eltoro1960 Posted 3 November , 2010 Share Posted 3 November , 2010 Bertrand You are a gentleman,it nice to think of someone visiting Charlie's grave, my father went years ago but finds it difficult to travel long distances. I am glad you like the website, it is possible to translate the site to Francais, but I suspect you English is better than Googles French. STSEVERWALKER Posted 4 November , 2010 Share Posted 4 November , 2010 Hi again John, Thank's for answering so quickly. Merci for your compliments about my English... Google French often create a strange mixture! In fact now I'm working on a new book dedicated to the end of Campaign of France in June 1940. And I cross every day units belonging to 51st Highland. In June 1940 they were 2 batalions of Seaforth Highlanders (2nd and 4th). I'm working on both right now. To go back to your ask I'll do my best to provide you photos; possibly next week because weather seems to be better on next Monday and Tuesday... Good evening and best regards from Rouen/Normandy.
