James Blonde Posted 5 June , 2010 Share Posted 5 June , 2010 Its more than likely the picture was taken Post War of Independence and might even have been published in a local Tipperary Newspaper, contacting the local County Library might result in some info, particularly if anybody has written any books on the local history of the area. Arnhem44 Posted 5 June , 2010 Author Share Posted 5 June , 2010 We got this from a family member with another close up photo of one of the men in the photo, they had been photocopied from the originals.I would think you are spot on that it is post War of Independence where this group are merely after taking over the barracks, wouldn't be expecting guy's like that who were on the move all the time to stop for a photo opportunity during the war .Thanks for the input Connaught Stranger. Some book might be the way to go on this. Stanley_C_Jenkins Posted 5 June , 2010 Share Posted 5 June , 2010 Why don't you ask for indentification via the War of Independence Net website which, I think, has a "contact us" button (?)

corisande Posted 6 June , 2010 Share Posted 6 June , 2010 And you could try emailing the Local History section in Tipperary County Library in Thurles. I have always found them very helpful, and will go the extra mile for you.
