Amor Posted 4 June , 2010 Share Posted 4 June , 2010 It is probably well known on this forum that during the Great War 5 brothers with the surname Soul were all killed. Last year I visited with my wife the 4 gravesites and the memorial at Thiepval where 1 is commemorated - very moving experience I can say. Does anybody have any details on whether the British Army attempted to send the twins Arthur and Alfred Souls back to the UK after the deaths of their 3 brothers in 1916. I find it impossible to believe that no effort would have been made to try and spare the lives of these boys. Any information greatly appreciated. Heid the Ba Posted 4 June , 2010 Share Posted 4 June , 2010 I don't think there was ever a policy to do this. Is there any suggestion that the two brothers would have consented to being sent home? Edit: Change "wanted to be" to "would have consented to being"
CT-Guards Posted 4 June , 2010 Share Posted 4 June , 2010 Put this on a thread yesterday about numbers of fallen men from the same street. In answer to your question I dont think any policy was put in place until WW2 or there abouts (stab in the dark).
