illustrator Posted 1 June , 2010 Share Posted 1 June , 2010 Hi. Cant seem to find any records for private Albert Nutbeam born Winchester 1888. He was a member of the Dorsetshire regiment and was in the BEF in 1914 1st bat WF. 11 corps 15th brigade. 5th division. He was with his brother Walter when Walter was killed near La Bassee canal on 12th Oct 1914. Where would Walter have been buried? I Have war diary for that day and WGC record for Walter (service record is missing).
Terry_Reeves Posted 1 June , 2010 Share Posted 1 June , 2010 Illustrator The CWGC site shows that Walter is commemorated on the Le Touret memorial, panels 22 and 23 and therefore has no known grave. With regard to Albert, are we talking about Albert Clements, the title of your post or Albert Nutbeam? If it is the latter, then there is a service record for a man of that name in the Dorset Regiment, from Winchester, who joined the Army in 1905, and was recalled as a reservist in 1914 and was serving in France in 1914.
