I've a got a medal pair to this chap. Corporal, SE-28082, Ronaleger Cumming, A.V.C.

The MiC shows his name as Ronaleger! Never heard of this first name. No futher records are available to a Ronaleger. What other first name could this be, if indeed Ronaleger is wrong.

Can you trace him?

Neil

Ancestry's not working for me at the moment, but FreeBMD says that a Ronaleyn [sic] J CUMMING married Louisa A ADAMS in Birkenhead in Q3 1916.

Neil,

That certainly is an unusual first name. Had a look also on Ancestry and there's nothing, not even on the census. Maybe he is one of the many who travelled from around the world to enlist in the British Army.

Cheers Andy.

[Edit]: As above, maybe there is some info on a census, nice one Adrian.

Adrian,

Cheers. Looks like he was born 1881, Liverpool, Son of Hugh L and Fanny A Cumming.

I have him in the 1891 at Litherland, Lancs. Nothing in 1881, if born prior to the census, and the 1901 census.

Neil

Update:

Roadleyn in 1901. Again in L'pool area

In 1911 he's transcribed as Rowaleyn Jones CUMMING, living with his mother, great-aunt and sister at 56 Elm Road, Seaforth, Lancs. He's a metal salesman aged 30.

His birth reg is Roualeyn Jones CUMMING, Liverpool, Q1 1881.
