londons Posted 29 May , 2010 Share Posted 29 May , 2010 Hi, My great grandfather David Vincent was transferred from the 6th Londons to the 7th RWR and given the number 269365 in the TF renumbering in 1917. He is though to have been initially classes as medically unfit for service and only served at home with the 7th RWR and it may have been the 1st, 2nd or 3rd 7th bn? Does anyone know what they did at home or where they travelled? Many thanks, Lee
Terry_Reeves Posted 29 May , 2010 Share Posted 29 May , 2010 Lee Given your information, it would have been originally the 3/7th Battalion. They were formed in May 1915 at Coventry. To Weston - super-Mare 8.4.16 where it became 7th (Reserve) Bn. It then moved to Ludgershall on the Salisbury Plain where it was absorbed into 8th (Reserve) Bn (formerly 3/8th RWR). This was part of the South Midland (Reserve) Brigade. During the winter of 1916/17 they were at Cheltenham and By March 1917 at Catterick. . In the summer of 1917, they moved to Northumberland (Blyth area) as part the Tyne Garrison, where they remained until the end of the war.
