Dear List,

Does anyone know if there are any suriving lists showing the names of women who served with the APMMC. Information would also be appreciated in relation to the location of any surviving records.

Thanks for your help.

Selena, I do not know of a list but you can find 20 of them following the following link :-

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...mp;mediaarray=*

This is simply using the on-line MIC site and entering Almeric Paget in the search box. I have the British War Medal to E. Bassett who is not listed there. This listing will not be complete, though - just the ones who served overseas and received a medal. There must have been many in UK military hospitals doing good work.

There is a list of about 60 members who were entitled to the British War Medal and the Victory Medal, or at least most of them on the list were. The roll was apparently signed by Miss Essex French in February 1920. I have no idea where you would find a copy of the original if that is what you are after, however I have the names transcribed and can post them here if it will help.

I would be very interested in seeing those names whenever you have a chance to post them.

Many thanks

Hi Monkstown

Here's the list. I do not know how accurate the list is, as my interest is in RAMC personnel I have never bothered to check it but I hope it helps.

Thanks very much - my great interest is in the author W M Letts (born Manchester, lived in Dublin) who worked as a VAD in Manchester and as a masseuse in Manchester and in Alnwick. I have a photocopy of her registration in ISTM along with some other ladies who trained with her in Ireland, so I am always looking to cross-reference.

Many thanks

I am getting a little bit concerned about my British War Medal awarded to E. Bassett, A.P.M.C. Naming looks ok and it came with photographs of a hospital. But she/he is not on Barbara's list or can be found on the MIC web site. Anyone any other ideas as to how to check it out?
