Maybe mine would have slotted in OK but it's here now and I've started so I'll finish and carry on with it if that's OK Thanks though Caryl

Andrew Hesketh Posted 27 March , 2010 Share Posted 27 March , 2010 This is keeping you busy isn't it! Rest assured, I keep popping back to see if any more Sherwoods appear. Thanks again for the work involved in posting the details. (Just a thought - if you are transcribing into Word or Excel you could just add the updated file as a downloadable link in the same way as you'd add an image. It would save you posting a long list and allow those interested to take a copy and search or sort.)
CarylW Posted 28 March , 2010 Author Share Posted 28 March , 2010 Good idea Andrew and I'll use that method for any further lists. The only downside I can see is that family historians would not be able to find the names via Google, or the forum search which is how many of them end up finding their way to the forum. I know that many use Google in that way, even setting up Google alerts if they have more unusual surnames. Sorry but I tend to think as a genealogist when posting names, which is what I was into before I turned into a military obsessionist! I can see a problem though if lots of us were posting humongous lists onto the forumCaryl

CarylW Posted 31 March , 2010 Author Share Posted 31 March , 2010 I should have mentioned that the list above comes at the tail end of a massive casualty list. Have looked in the Times for dates before and after and I can't see that there is a similar one there, although there are of course biographical details with the Officers Killed in the Times The list is as follows: Officers : Killed Died of wounds Wounded Missing Wounded and missing Wounded and prisoner Prisoner Prisoner reported killed NCO's and Men Killed: Northamptonshire Regiment Other Regiments Died of wounds Died Wounded Missing now wounded Missing : Royal Field Artillery Missing: Grenadier Guards Missing Other regiments Missing rejoined: Royal Field Artillery Missing: other regiments If anyone wants anyone looking up in the above let me know Caryl
battiscombe Posted 31 March , 2010 Share Posted 31 March , 2010 I would be interested in RFA missing or similar (POWs?) .. if that is not a big task? Your list is interesting as i think i have all the hospital reports from the Times in 1914 and the RFA names you listed did not appear.. 2 more in that last post of yours.. david I should have mentioned that the list above comes at the tail end of a massive casualty list.
