Anthony Bagshaw Posted 19 May , 2004 Share Posted 19 May , 2004 Hello, I have recently learned that my Great Grandfather was in 'D' Company of the 11th Sherwood Foresters. Just wondered what information or photographs the PALS have in their possesion? Any help appreciated Thanks Anthony
crispy Posted 30 May , 2004 Share Posted 30 May , 2004 Hello Anthony. From some of the military history books that I have I would probably be able to formulate an outline of the 11th Bn Sherwood Foresters for you, but without looking through them I doubt if there will be anything specific to "D" Coy of the Bn. Due to the fact that today is my wedding anniversary, I am having to report in No1 Dress at a local hostelry this evening, as such I will have to delay search through books untill tomorrow for you, hope I can be of help. John_Hartley Posted 30 May , 2004 Share Posted 30 May , 2004 Anthony You'll find that Forum member Greenwoodman is the resident expert on the 11th Sherwoods and if you email or PM him he may be able to help if you have a specific query. If you check the document repositary secion, you'll see he has the Bn's War Diary
crispy Posted 31 May , 2004 Share Posted 31 May , 2004 Anthony. In view of your fantastic reply from John, you will obviously find out what you want to know from the specialist of the unit, as such it would be pointless me searching books, and not coming up with as much information for you, a good result. AM87 Posted 18 March , 2017 Share Posted 18 March , 2017 Hi, my great grand father (Pte Thomas King) was with D Company on 01-Jul-16. He was shot twice but survived the war. Just wondered if you had managed to find any info since your original post above?
