Jamesmiller Posted 21 March , 2010 Share Posted 21 March , 2010 He is my Grandfather and I am trying to find out how he managed to get to Gallipoli and be reputed to be attached to the ANZACS. He doesnt seem to appear in any of the records I have come across. As I am living in N.Z. it makes it all the more difficult. Any help most appreciated James

Guest PeterMaggs Posted 5 January , 2014 Share Posted 5 January , 2014 James, I don't know whether you are still pursuing Wilton Edwin Rix, but I do have some more information. If you reply to this post, I will upload some pdf files on him. Peter Maggs
KevinBattle Posted 5 January , 2014 Share Posted 5 January , 2014 James hasn't been active on this forum since April 2010. I have sent him a PM on your behalf but, after almost 4 years absent, he may not respond.... Why not add the information anyway, unless sensitive.. Guest PeterMaggs Posted 5 January , 2014 Share Posted 5 January , 2014 OK, just to say the following: 1. Wilton Edwin Rix's obituary appears in The Times, Thursday Oct 16th 1958. It confirms that he was trained at Mansfield College, Oxford, and served in Gallipoli during the first word war. 2. A notice in The Times for Oct 16th 1913 states that "The Rev Wilton Rix of Benson, Oxon has accepted the pastorate at Oxted. 3. I am aware of Wilton Rix because he was the pastor at Ealing Green (west London) during the 20s and 30s. He ran 'Little Church', a church for children, and my father, Norman Maggs, once read the lesson there that was broadcast by the BBC to the entire country. KevinBattle Posted 5 January , 2014 Share Posted 5 January , 2014 Have you seen the Relics of Beccles info? http://relicsofbeccleshistory.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/samuel-wilton-rix-part-one.html and http://relicsofbeccleshistory.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/samuel-wilton-rix-part-two.html (or should that be R(el)ix of Beccles? You could probably fund the GWF forum for a year purchasing all their books via our Amazon link! and a link to Lewis Carroll!
