Remembered Today:

Munition Factories Liverpool

By coincidence I grew up very close to the site in Aintree. I'm attaching pages from a street atlas from the mid 20's of the area; my friend Alf kindly allowed me to scan it and it is a goldmine.

Confusingly there are three Aintree stations but the area of the factories appears to be to the west of the three, and close to the farm, which appears on the map as Stand Park Farm. The tramway is the brown line running along Warbreck Moor and the terminus is next to the southwestern corner of Aintree racecourse. The current Aintree station is the northernmost of the three, again opposite the racecourse.

Hope this is of some use.

Pete.
