chris.wight Posted 17 May , 2004 Share Posted 17 May , 2004 I've been reading the war diary of the 24th Battalion, Victoria Rifles of Canada, and the earliest entries were written by an officer who had been appointed the brigade S.M.O. Does this stand for Sanitation Medical Officer?

chris.wight Posted 17 May , 2004 Author Share Posted 17 May , 2004 Thanks for the answers, they make more sense. Sounds better on one's resume too!
Muerrisch Posted 17 May , 2004 Share Posted 17 May , 2004 Oddly enough, a medical officer attached to a BATTALION was usually called a Regimental Medical Officer, who worked at the Regimental Aid Post. And, no doubt, sometimes treated the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Battalion. Daft, really.
