Remembered Today:

Just got hold of the medal card of a Pte Walter Edwards of the Buffs, service number SR/7768.

He has a date of entry of 1/5/1915 into France.

Then there is the following under Remarks. "P.D. 28/5/1915."

Can any pal out there enlighten me to what this means?

Cheers Stuart

Sotonmate,

Thanks for that. I was gvien the name and service number by a chap who assured me this was his Gt-grandfather who "survived" the war and went on to live to a ripe old age! Never thought of looking into CWGC or SDGW. That will teach me! I cant wait to give him the good news on Monday.

Thanks again

Stuart
