I am sure he wasnt in the Black and Tans and also he didnt die in the sinking of the Leinster off Irleand in 1918. C'mon let's get at those little grey cells!! Terry Denham Posted 16 May , 2004 Share Posted 16 May , 2004 Can you explain the circumstances of the reference? Where does it come from?
Chris_Baker Posted 16 May , 2004 Share Posted 16 May , 2004 According to "Soldiers Died", 2 men named Kerr died while serving with the Leinsters. John and Joseph. Both from Belfast, both in the 7th Battalion, both died in 1916. Regimental numbers 1596 and 1598.
Guest Pete Wood Posted 16 May , 2004 Share Posted 16 May , 2004 Pretty naff clues, and John even tried to put us off the trail. But, knowing that John lives in Essex, I think I can solve this puzzle. Your 'man' is Robert Kerr and he DID die when the Leinster sank. Info is: The Times, Wednesday, Oct 16, 1918; pg. 1; Issue 41922; col A If I am right, please donate £2 to the Great War Forum
Terry Denham Posted 16 May , 2004 Share Posted 16 May , 2004 No wonder I couldn't find him amongst the War Graves. He is a civilian!
