I hope that all the members of this forum who live in France and Belgium are OK and that we are following the events in Canada.

A bit too close to Bill for comfort. I trust he and friends are OK. Not so bad at Chantal's?

From the news I have seen it appears to have been the Atlantic coast that was worst hit. No mention of damage inland that I have heard.

Not too bad at her's,Tom.Dad's,I'll find out tonight.

The worst hit seems to be the Vendee*,a place I have worked at several times & not far inland from the coast (as Keith mentions).

*si?

There was damage in Strasbourg, electricity losses throughout Alsace, trees down, tiles lost and so on, but no fatalities (to yesterday). Someone has been killed in the Black Forest. Clearly not as awful as the West coast, but enough to be disruptive.

Thank you Rick, that's very nice of you to ask.

We got the tail end of the wind and rain here in Normandie, however we live on the 'Marais' so have had flooding which fortunately stopped short of the house

Hi Gill no problem it is a small world and I love the area as well as being in the north of France and Belgium my wife and I will be in Normandy in September my third trip there. I was stationed at a Military camp 2009 when we were hit by a very heavy rain storm flooded out the tent lines is causes all kinds of problems.

Take care

Rick

I too hope all is well. My son and I will be in Normandy, Ypres, Vimy next week with his school.

Just look for a two metre tall 16-year-old, and ask him "Stephen, where's your Dad?"

We were in Lille on Sunday and the weather was terrible - icy cold, sheeting rain and high winds as we were touring round battlefield sites.

However on Monday when we drove over to Le Treport to visit my uncle's grave at Mont Huon it was absolutely glorious.
