AndyMacdonald Posted 25 February , 2010 Share Posted 25 February , 2010 Hi all, During research a query over the name of a camp(s?) has cropped up, and I am hoping someone can help me clear the matter up. The diary of a corps commander refers to his being stationed at Ten Elms Camp near Poperinghe in September/October 1917. This is not a camp I have come across before, and wonder if he more properly meant Nine Elms Camp at Poperinghe. Were there two camps, or is this a mistake in the camp's name? Did Ten Elms Camp become Nine Elms Camp after one of the trees was felled? Any advice welcome to clear up this matter. Also, can anyone direct me to a photograph of that camp around the September/October 1917 period, or, if not, any photo of it during the war years? So, we know Ten Elms Camp did exist. Does the same map have a location for Nine Elms Camp, or does anyone know if its location coincides with that of Ten Elms Camp?
