CooperS Posted 14 May , 2004 Share Posted 14 May , 2004 Can anyone answer my question. My father served in WW1 with the 7th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regt And also with the 11th. Battalion .Somerset L.I. Medal Rolls confirm this but his Army records did not survive. He had a set of volumes on the war, and one day said to me ‘Look There’s us’ and showed me a picture of a group of soldiers sitting by a roadside. How I would love to See that picture now. There were 5 or six volumes to the set they were about 7 x 9 inches and 2 or so thick ,orange coloured hard covers with Gold Lettering which said The Great War or similar And a logo of what I think was a seige gun in the top right side also in gold. I Know it’s a bit of an outside chance but --- any Ideas. Peter Cox.

I think I know the Books you mean,"The History Of The Great War" by Parnell Or Hammerton,I think,Fairly Small in size but quite thick, about 2" each Volume & as you say about 6 Volumes, & with a Howitzer on the cover; They should be quite easy to obtain as they were quite common & not expensive,Your local library should be able to locate a set via the British Library.I hope this helps regards Roger.
