AlanCurragh Posted 14 May , 2004 Share Posted 14 May , 2004 Having spent a month or so researching a couple of soldiers in my wife's family, she has reminded me that there was another Great War casualty, a nurse who died of influenza in 1918 and was granted a military funeral. Apart from her name, Amy Bowen, that is really all I know. Don't even know if she was overseas or not. It's probably a very long shot, but can anyone suggest any possible lines of enquiry? Thanks Alan
Paul Nixon Posted 14 May , 2004 Share Posted 14 May , 2004 Try the British Red Cross Archives in London. Grosvenor Crescent I think, but there is a website also. The National Archives also have some nurses' records. Best wishes Paul
Jim Strawbridge Posted 16 May , 2004 Share Posted 16 May , 2004 Alan, I cannot see that there was a serving WW1 female casualty called Amy Bowen. Not with CWGC or rolls. If you contact me off line I will let you have a list of all of the AMY's to see if a different surname rings a bell. Jim Strawbridge
