1st Manchesters in Guernsey

Could anyone enlighten me as to the 1st manchesters during the ww1 period. Mr Great Grandfather (Private George Irvine Higginbotham) was a private in the army and he listed his battalion on his marriage certificate as the 1st manchesters, stationed at Fort George Guernsey in 1926. I havent been able to find anything relating to them as yet. Any information would be greatly appreciated

1st Battalion Manchester Rgt

4-8-14 Jullundur: Jullundur Bde. 3rd (Lahore) Div.

29-8-14 sailed from Karachi for Europe arriving Marseilles 26 Sept.

10-12-15 embarked at Marseilles and landed at Basra 8-1-16.

March 1918 to Egypt.

31-10-18 8th Indian Bgd. 3rd Indian Division. Palestine; Jaljulye, N.E. of Jaffa.

Post Great War the Battalion were as follows:

Ireland 5.11.19 to 12.2.20

Iraq 13.3.20 to 19.11.20

India 6.1.21 to 1924

I have no managed to piece a few things together and that very interesting link has led me to a book that could possibly hold more information about my Great Grandfather!
