Stolen WW1 Medals

Paul Reed

The following medals were stolen in France last week. The theft has been reported to the police. For obvious reasons the circumstances cannot be discussed here but if there are any members who are offered them for sale, or sees them for sale, I would appreciate you getting in touch via PM/Email.

1914/15 Trio plus Memorial Plaque and collar badges on khaki to

79224 Sgt Aubrey Henry Gay, 31st Canadian Infantry, killed 15.9.16

BWM/Vic plus bronze officer’s collar badge and silver ID bracelet to:

2/Lt Arthur Charles Michell, 7th Royal West Kents, killed 12.10.17

(medals named 2/Lt A.C.Michell)

BWM/Vic to:

5509 Rfn S.F.Osborne, 8th London Regiment (attached 9th), killed 25.7.16

Victory Medal to:

S/16572 Rfn F.H.Davies, Rifle Brigade, D/W 25.9.16

Memorial Plaque to:

Clarence Kitson

26147, Pte 1st Loyal North Lancs, killed 25.8.16 from Pudsey, Leeds

Memorial Plaque to:

Willie Kitson

11528, Cpl 8th Duke of Wellingtons, died of wounds 5.10.16 from Pudsey, Leeds

Memorial Plaque to:

Henry G Greenfield

7331, 10th Royal Sussex Regiment, died at home 27.2.19

With our contacts I would hope that they will be spotted, some very distinctive pieces there.

WHY?

Why do people do this? :angry2: Will keep an eye out for you as well. I have turned myself into a rather avid collector of medals to the London Regiment (singles only), but maybe those to Osborne will show up somewhere.
