kevin Posted 9 May , 2004 Share Posted 9 May , 2004 Rowland The 4 prefix indicates this man was a pre war Militia man and was part of two special Reserve Battalions(3rd and 4th). These Battalions were at York, and were used as Reserves for the 1st and 2nd Battalions during the opening months of the war. Hope this is of some help. Regards Kevin.
