Guest Tankman Posted 7 May , 2004 Share Posted 7 May , 2004 Could someone please lookup James Stocker on SDGW. He was my grandmother's first husband who supposed to have been killed in WWI but have no proof. There is no other info I can provide. I have tried J, James, Jim on the war grave commision website. SDGW may have other names. Regards Tankman

Tom Morgan Posted 7 May , 2004 Share Posted 7 May , 2004 (edited) There are three: One from Earl Shilton in Leicestershire One born in Hammersmith and living in Hanwell One born in Clerkenwell, Essex There's also a Thomas James, who came from Salford. Any of these seem a possible? Tom (Sorry Tom - you must have been sending your reply while I was writing mine.) Guest Tankman Posted 7 May , 2004 Share Posted 7 May , 2004 Tom and Tom, Thanks for your quick replies. I dont have anyother info of James Stocker, but as my grandmother only ever lived in London, I would plump for the London born ones ( but he may have come to London from elsewhere ). My grandmother's name was Clara Louisa/Louise ( both used at various times ), so if they have next of kin information this may help. Tom Morgan Posted 7 May , 2004 Share Posted 7 May , 2004 One of the stockers is almost right then, but it's his mother who was called Louisa, not his wife. Search CWGC for Stocker but just give the initial J, not James, Jim, etc. STOCKER, JAMES Initials: J Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Private Regiment: Royal Fusiliers Unit Text: 7th Bn. Age: 32 Date of Death: 23/04/1917 Service No: 44166 Additional information: Son of James and Louisa Stocker, of 41, Bishop Rd., Hanwell.
