Originally enlisted into the 168th (Ontario) Battalion. This unit recruited in the County of Oxford Ontario, and had its headquarters in Woodstock Ontario. The 168th Bn. served in Canada from December 1915 to November 1, 1916. Served in England from November 11, 1916 to January 4, 1917. The 168th Infantry Battalion was absorbed into the 4th and 6th Reserve Battalions. Pte. Jeavons was drafted to the 21st Battalion CEF (2nd Canadian Division, 4th Infantry Brigade) for service in France and Flanders. He was killed in action on August 17, 1917 (Hill 70). At the age of 38. Son of James and Sarah Jeavons, late of 56, Grantham Rd., Smethwick, Birmingham, England; husband of Edith E. Jeavons, of "Elgin," Grimes Hill, Wythall, Birmingham, England.
