I have recently come across a foriegn decoration for the first time mentioned in a soldiers papers - The Gold Medal from the King of Serbia - this is listed alongside campaign medals on a lads discharge papers, he was a L/Cpl in the RE's (Lithographical Section) - can anyone give me more information about the award, I guess they were given by the Serbians to our GHQ who then passed them on to men for acts that did not quite qualify for MM's, a bit like other foriegn awards, the medal itself was sold in the 1920's its believed as it was made of gold.
