john w. Posted 6 May , 2004 Share Posted 6 May , 2004 If you look at the photo below you will see S Keeling.. June 7th 1917.. I cannot find a relevant entry for him.. any ideas as to who he was. I have done SDGW, CWGC, Census.... The entry on the memorial above J Keeling did die May 4th 1917.. so there is a degree of accuracy in the memorial.. C'mon PALS impress me John
Stephen Nulty Posted 6 May , 2004 Share Posted 6 May , 2004 John Looks like a wooden memorial, perhaps a church or school. Where is it located? Knowing this may help us to find our man. Stephen
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 6 May , 2004 Share Posted 6 May , 2004 The Memorial is wrong or CWGC is!! Try and type in Harry Keeling - was killed on 7 June 1917 with the NZEF and came from Billericay in Essex - I assume this is your man John. Neil Clark Posted 8 May , 2004 Share Posted 8 May , 2004 I have come across many men whose names appear on a war memorial but they are not recorded by the CWGC. This usually means that the man died after he had been discharged of wounds that could be attributed to the war. The local paper is the place to look in these cases....
