4th Btn Grenadier Guards Lieutenant R H Rolfe 1918

Am looking for R. H. (Raymond Harold) Rolfe, Son of Edwin and Harriett Rolfe, of Westfield, Woking, Surrey.

Raymond is buried next to three other Grenadier Guards who all died on the same day, 22 April 1918. One of the three is my relative Sgt Harry Hackett. So far I've managed to trace a relative of one of the others and we've managed to exchange information and photos.

I have an account of Lieutenant Rolfe's death in 'Ponsonby's' but apart from that have nothing else.

It would be great to obtain a photo of him so I can add it next to a website I've put together to honour the four Guards. See link at http://sites.google.com/site/andyr46/home/...rothers-in-arms

Any information appreciated.

Thanks for reading

Diane this is gold!!!! Thanks soooo much. The casualty report shows all four Grenadier Guards including my relative Sgt H Hackett. It's good to see something 'official'. I will update my H Hackett web site as soon as I can with this info.

Is it OK to reproduce the casualty report or is it under any kind of copyright/protection?

Cannot thank you enough for this information and for responding so quickly.

Thanks again.

Hi Andy

I bought the war diary from TNA. I would imagine that you can transcribe it but not use the actual image.

Thought you might be pleased

Hi Andy

I enjoyed looking at your page, especially as you have found some photos of the men. My Great Grandad was Denis McEvoy MM, mentioned in this thread. It is great to see pictures of men he probably knew. He was injured on the night of 22nd April and declared as missing, until the next day he had dragged himself to safety and was put in Military hospital.

Thanks mate

Max.

Thanks Max, apologies for not responding sooner. I've been very lucky finding pictures of two of the lads. Shame I cant find one of Raymond Rolfe.

I will keep looking.

Noticed your Grandads name mentioned in the war diary excerpt.

Keep in touch

Thanks again.
