Good evening to all.

Thomas Naylor, 7835, 1st Royal Scots and Labour Corps, 817359.

I am trying to connect this man with Salford. I have a Thomas aged 15 living in Ordsall, Salford (1901 census), he has a sister Esther who is living at King Edward St, Ordsall, Salford in 1918 (Slaters) but no mention of him on AVL.

Any info appreciated.

Regards,

Garry,

He appears to have 4 pages of pension records on Ancestry. Internet on the blink at the moment but first page has his address as what looks like St. Clements, Salford, Lancashire. Aged 18. Can't make out the date yet. Someone else might be able to confirm the details quicker while I throw my laptop out the window!!

Cheers John.

St Clements looks good. Been searching Ancestry for ages. May I ask what your search criteria was to find record?

Please don't damage your laptop, kick the cat instead. (joke)

Edit: found it, this is the man I am looking for and connection made. Many thanks.Garry

Garry,

What I normally do (and appears to work for me sometimes anyway) is search for the MIC using surname and number and Exact. Then paste all the rest of the details into the other fields, take off Exact and search again. Then click the "All Military Results" link and look in both Service and Pension records. Your man was number 2 in the Pension records list -

The laptop has been given a reprieve. The Broadband provider will get an earfull!!

John,

Thanks for the search tips.

Kim,

Thanks for your generous offer, I have access to ancestry and have found the pension records but your info from the 1911 census is invaluable.

Have I ever mentioned that this is a wonderful forum blessed with wonderful members? Well it is.
