I would be extremely grateful for any details on this young officer's service to try and solve the problem of his apparently incorrect commemoration on the Arras Memorial (Bay 3).

He is commemorated on his parent's grave in Cheltenham Borough Cemetery - "Royal Fusiliers, killed in action on July 27th 1916 at the taking of Delville Wood".

His listing in the DoHR records the same date of death whilst serving with the 7th Bn Royal Fusiliers. His MIC shows him as serving with 22nd Bn Royal Fusiliers and I assume that we was attached to the 22nd from the 7th, who were the Royal Fusiliers Extra Reserve Bn.

The 22nd Bn were, with the 23rd Bn, part of 99 Bde of 2nd Division who fought at Delville Wood.

Should young Bushell then be properly commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, or was he indeed serving the Arras area on the day he died?

With very many thanks

Jimmy
