truthergw Posted 6 December , 2009 Posted 6 December , 2009 Hi Andrew. Loos started on 25th September. On the 25th, the Hohenzollern Redoubt had been taken but was lost in later fighting. On 28th there was a major attempt to regain the redoubt and Fosse 8 in which the 2nd Buffs was heavily involved. Incessant trench warfare from 28th through the 29th is how the Official History describes it. This was hand to hand with bombing in and around trenches and the cottages of the Fosse( A colliery pithead). The Buffs were in the 85th Brigade, 28th Division. 1st Corps.
