Marlborough school. Wounded at Fromelles on 9th May with 2/Royal Berks. Grateful for anything on this action.

He died in the 'hospital barge' according to de Ruvigny - grateful for any more on this intriguing detail. Why a barge?

Barges were used to take the seriously wounded down river to base hospitals. Less bumpy and probably quicker.
