You are probably out of luck. I can't find any service records or pension records for Joseph. May well be another lot that were lost in the fire.

Thanks for that. I'm contacting all the people who looking for a Joseph Scales on Genes Reunited from 1880 to 1900. Hopefully I'll have some luck using that direction.
