Old Tom Posted 4 December , 2009 Posted 4 December , 2009 This seems the best part of the forum to mention a set of 3 CDS by Hachette Digital. The text by Harry Patch and Richard Van Emden is read by Alan Howard. The first disc deals with Harry,s pre war life, the seco;nd withwith his time in Flanders and his being wounded. I have not listened to the third yet. Highly recommended! Hope it has not been covered before; I am not familiar with the books section. Old Tom
philtaylor Posted 4 December , 2009 Posted 4 December , 2009 I'm alaways intrigued by the title of this publication - why 'The last Fighting Tommy'? why not just the 'The Last Tommy'?
Old Tom Posted 7 December , 2009 Author Posted 7 December , 2009 I suppose authors like a good title. This guy fought in 3rd Ypres and was wounded there. He claims to be an ace with a Lewis. I have never fired a Lewis but was quite good with a Bren a long time ago. I'm inclined to apply a very small pinch of salt to his powers. Who proved to be the last was a matter of chance. It could have been that the last never heard a shot fired in anger. However he told a fascinating tale. Old Tom
