I am still searching for thr records of my grandfather John Daly, who had several different numbers during his service with the Royal Irish Fusiliers. He was with D COMPANY 6TH BTN R.I.F. in 1915.At that time his number supposedly was 12325.Later he was in a different group probably after amalgamation in later years. He lived in Coatbridge,Scotland but originated in Armagh,Northern Ireland.I cant find him in the medal rolls either although there are a number of men of the same name to be found there.I think he survived WW1 but cannot trace his death in Scottish records.Any thoughts thank you. <_<

There is a medal index card for a J Daley enlisted Royal Irish Fusiliers, Service No. 12336 who transferred to the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, service No. 22274. The card shows him going to the Balkans theatre 13.7.15, awarded the 1915 star and being discharged to Class Z Army Resreve. There is a second medal index card for John Daley, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, service No. 22274, showing him being awarded the British war Medal and Victory medal. I cannot find any service record for this man. Its a bit of a long shot but this may be your man

Do you know if he was living in Coatbridge at the time of his enlistment and immediately after the War? If he was he maybe listed in the book of those that served which is held in Airdrie Library.

Thank you :D

He was in the book in the library, but seems to have little information on him after that date. The family say there were no medals unless collected by another relative from Ireland. <_<
