Lijssenthoek soldiers: website online

Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery is online now: www.lijssenthoek.be

Please have a look and get in touch if you know more about a Lijssenthoek-victim, about the cemetery or about the medical history behind it.

A lovely site. Everyone connected with it should be proud of what they have produced here.

Annemie,

I have a little information on a soldier buried in the cemetery but I am unable to find your website - can you post a link please?

Dear Annemie,

What is the sence of taking picures of 10.788 gravestones?

What is the sense of taking pictures of 10.788 gravestones?

"The photographic inventory will provide us with a lot of information. We will link the photograph of the war grave with the name of the victim, which will give an added value to our persons' database. This will also "enable families to obtain a copy of the photograph of the grave. It will be a free service" which we gladly offer to those who are able to give us information on their relative buried at Lijssenthoek."

The original visitors book is well worth a search. http://www.talbothouse.be/en/?id=Archief⊂=guestbook

Excellent site. http://www.lijssenthoek.be/index.php

Ernst,

May I suggest having a browse through at least a few of the threads within the Remembering Them, Photograph Offers & Wants and Soldiers sections of the GWF. Doing such should answer your question.

In summary though, Peter Bennett has already said it in three words, Lest We Forget.

Best regards,

Ian.

I am so pleased to see this tribute to the Fallen of Lijssenthoek Cemetery take it's first few steps.

Since joining the Great War Forum eighteen months ago, I have received an immense amount of help from fellow forumers through postings, e-mail and PM's. I can't thank them enough for that.

The information so selflessly provided is gradually making it's way onto a simple Word document and will be passed on to Annemie in due course.

I am sure others will do the same as a lasting tribute to the Forefathers who gave their all for us.

Well done, and thank you, to Annemie and her fellow colleagues.

Lest We Forget

David

I am pleased to have been able to add details on Private Alfred WEARNE, 14 Hampshires, and Ernest REEVES,Gunner RGA,from my birth village.

Thank you for the opportunity to do so.

I am reminded of my own visit to Lijssenthoek two years ago to visit their graves.

Hi Chris

I bought a copy of the book (Naval & Military Press); that helps me for the moment.

Warm regards
