mpjbrennan Posted 25 November , 2009 Posted 25 November , 2009 The image below shows a detail from my grandfather's WW1 service record in the RAF. The quality of the image is pretty dreadful. I can make out the dates, and the fact that he was "Transferred to the unemployed list" on 15/2/1919, but the acronyms in the first three columns mean nothing to me. I would be grateful for any suggestions as to their meaning. Patrick
sotonmate Posted 27 November , 2009 Posted 27 November , 2009 Patrick AS you have no replies, as yet, you might need to tell us what he did, as well as trying to make the offending part larger. There seem to be an awful lot of these titles, but they can be more revealing with the knowledge of his function. Sotonmate
David B Posted 27 November , 2009 Posted 27 November , 2009 Sotonmate, Using Windows 7 it is possible to blow the pic to 400 percent and beyond, but the writing is so poor - not the writing so much but I think the inscriptions were put there by using a tar brush dipped in ink - that it is nearly impossible to read. Without a knowledge of some of the terms I can't figure it out completely but the last line says Transferred to unemployed list w/e 15/4/19. David
