Hello, I became aware of the forum just over a week ago when researching my grandfathers military history. Purely by coincidence my search took me into a posting by Peter Williams of Canberra, member no. 23,638. In the posting he requests information about my grandfather, John Coucill, on behalf of a friend of his, Lyn. This is very intriguing and I would appreciate any help in contacting Peter Williams. I have tried to PM but I am unable to do this due to an error.

Thank you in anticipation.

Paula,

To get to the PM phase you need to have 10 posts. If you would like I'll send him one on your behalf.

Cheers Andy.

Hello Peter

Thank you for contacting me. Difficult to know where to start! I recently acquired my grandfather's medals and decided to see what I could find out about his involvement and experiences in the 1st World War. I discovered that he was with the 25th Battalion, Manchester Regiment, I knew he was wounded, I believed in France but I didn't know where and I couldn't trace the regiment overseas. I typed the regiment name in for a google search and it took me into your posting of March last year. I continued to read your posting because I thought I might learn where he was posted and where and when he was wounded. I was then amazed to see his name and number and to learn that he had a daughter (Lyn) in Canberra. This meant that if your John Coucill 10371 is my grandfather that my mother has a sister or half sister in Canberra.

I wondered if Lyn would want to know more about her father and perhaps our family as we are interested in knowing more about Lyn. I don't know if you are in contact with her but hoped if you were that you might pass this information on.

Kindest regards

Paula
