I thought it would be an idea to set up a list, like the Gallipolli and Brothers died on the same day threads. Here are some to start off. W. T. Dodd. John joined the 2nd Royal Irish Regt and was wounded in the Somme area July 1918 (multiple GSW to left arm). John rejoined for WW2 and was tragically killed in an accident. Both brothers lie side by side. Private P MULHALL 12132, 1st Bn., Royal Dublin Fusiliers who died age 23 on 14 January 1917 Son of David and Mary Mulhall, of Bridewell St., Carlow. Remembered with honour CARLOW OLD CEMETERY Gunner JOHN MULHALL 1483044, 96 Bty., 17 Lt. A.A. Regt., Royal Artillery who died age 41 on 20 April 1940 Son of David and Mary Anne Mulhall, of Carlow; husband of Mary J. Mulhall, of Carlow. Now rests in the Point d' Achelles Military Cemetery, Nord, France. 44609. Private Ernest Ashley Todd. 1st Batt. Canterbury Regiment. N.Z.E.F. KIA 6th April 1918. Now rests in the Knightsbridge Cemetery, Mesnil- Martinsart, France. Also a close friend lost 2 Great Uncles who were brothers - 24/670. Sgt. Edward Bouchier Aitken. 2nd Batt. 3rd NZ Rifle Brigade. Died of wounds 10th September 1916. Now rests in the Quarry Cemetery, France. 78839. Gunner. William Robert Aitken. NZ Field Artillery. Died of wounds 17th June 1919. Old Owl Posted 22 November , 2009 Share Posted 22 November , 2009 Hi Neil, I have just thought of another pair of brothers: Captain John Robson Ashcroft, M.C., 4th att'd 9th Scottish Rifles, KIA 23/3/18 Captain Frank Ashcroft, 6th Royal Bn.(Scinde)13th Frontier Force Rifles, KIA 24/8/30 during a disturbance on the North West Frontier. Captain Ashcroft was killed along with 8 Indian o.r.'s, and 10 Indian o.r.'s were wounded. Three IDSM's were awarded for this action. Husband of Mildred Jean Brydson of West Derby, Liverpool. KIA 27 February 1944 when his ship was sunk during an attack on the convoy STL-12 by U-66. The Master, 5 crew and a gunner were killed.
