wilkie Posted 11 November , 2009 Share Posted 11 November , 2009 Hi All, I am trying to find as much information about the above local man who sadly died in the Great War. I have his MIC's, but wondered if there was any additional info on the rear of the cards? Name : Ernest Norman Bradley Rank Private Regiment RAMC Unit 1st/2nd (West Riding ) Field Ambulance Age 23 DOW 28/04/1918 Son of William Ernest and Clara Bradley , Ouchthorpe Lane Wakefield I wonder if anyone could provide any additional information about what he may have done and where he won his Military Medal, Gazetted on 16-11-1916 Which battle he was fatally wounded in? Or any battles he may have been present at? On a personal note , is it possible to find a house number for his parents house, or indeed an address Ernest may have been living at ? I would be most grateful for any additional pieces of info anyone may have. Kind Regards Rob
ralphjd Posted 11 November , 2009 Share Posted 11 November , 2009 Rob. Nothing on the other side of his MIC I am afraid, no other records either. In 1901 his family lived at Bagnalls Tunnel Stanley Road Wakefield, perhaps some one with access to the 1911 Census can trace him to another address. Ralph. apwright Posted 12 November , 2009 Share Posted 12 November , 2009 In 1911 the family were living at 4 Trilby St, Wakefield. There are no numbers given for any of the houses on Ouchthorpe Lane in the 1911 Census. Field Head (which is what CWGC's "Tield Head" is meant to be) is at the southern end of Ouchthorpe Lane. Chris Noble Posted 15 November , 2009 Share Posted 15 November , 2009 Hi Rob. I will stick my neck out here on both questions. The award of the Military Medal, most likely for July 1916, Somme. Wounds received, possibly Second Battle of Kemmel Ridge. Educated guesses! All the best and good luck. Chris.
wilkie Posted 23 November , 2009 Author Share Posted 23 November , 2009 Many thanks Chris, what basis have you used to make those assumptions?
