wilkie Posted 8 November , 2009 Posted 8 November , 2009 Pals, I am the custodian of medals of the above soldier, His MIC says he arrived in France 3-9-1915 but yet earned MSM for service in Egypt with 115 Railway Company RE (MSM WR 28915). I would be extremely grateful if anyone could add any further information about Alfred Georges service. Kind Regards Rob
SteveE Posted 8 November , 2009 Posted 8 November , 2009 Rob I suspect all his service was with the 115th Railway Company. I've got these dates for it's embarkation in France and subsequently Egypt..... 115th Railway Company 3rd/4th September 1915 to France Embarked Marseilles 11th December 1915 for Egypt Disembarked Alexandria 21st December 1915. The War Diaries for the unit are held at NA, Kew under the following references; WO 95/4410 115 Railway Company, Royal Engineers 1915 Dec. - 1917 Dec. WO 95/4718 115 Railway Company, Royal Engineers 1918 Jan. - 1919 Mar. Regards Steve
SteveE Posted 9 November , 2009 Posted 9 November , 2009 Rob I've done a bit more digging and have a little more information. I would suggest he enlisted on or around the 21st May 1915 in London and was possibly working for the London & North Western Railway at the time. It is likely that he was renumbered to WR/289152 (not 28915 as per your post) on 11th July 1918. Regards Steve
