jholl72 Posted 8 November , 2009 Posted 8 November , 2009 Hi guys, Hoping someone can help me out here. My great Uncle served in the CEF in WWI. He enlisted in the 71st and then moved on to the 73rd Battalion. I have his service photo and it looks like he is wearing a Black Watch cap badge? Am I wrong in what I see or is there a connection between them. Anyone got some detailed pics of a WWI Black Watch cap badge?
Joe Sweeney Posted 8 November , 2009 Posted 8 November , 2009 The 73rd CEF BN was also one of the Canadian Black Watch Battalions. The CEF in France had the 13th, 73rd and 42nd BN CEFs and all were BW (Royal Highlanders of Canada) Battalions. Joe Sweeney
jholl72 Posted 8 November , 2009 Author Posted 8 November , 2009 Joe, Thanks so much for the clarification. I have that photo and his service that says he was part of the 73rd, The Royal Highlanders Black Watch...I always thought the Black Watch was the 13th. That clears that up. I have purchased this cap with Black Watch cap badge to display with his picture. I am curious to know if this is the correct cap badge. I have seen pics on the internet that include "Canada" on them. Would this be the right badge for my Great Uncle's service? cap badge
