ianmccallum Posted 1 November , 2009 Posted 1 November , 2009 Hi Guys Would it be possible to receive a Silver War badge only. I have Pte. William McStay, North Irish Horse being issued the badge but can't find any other medals for him. According to the medal card for the badge he enlisted on 22 March 1916. Ian
themonsstar Posted 2 November , 2009 Posted 2 November , 2009 I've just had a look at his SWB Roll page & its says he did served overseas, his age was 25, SWB No B98,201
centurion Posted 2 November , 2009 Posted 2 November , 2009 My Great Uncle Basil Mowbray Kirby enlisted on 28/12/1916 in the RGA,57 Co,no 135408 and was discharged 20/3/17 under sickness para 392 XVI without ever serving abroad - no MIC but there is an SWB card
ianmccallum Posted 3 November , 2009 Author Posted 3 November , 2009 Hi Guys Thanks for the replies. If he served overseas he must be entitles to a medal. Any ideas what might have happened to the MIC. Is the SWB Roll available on line. Ian
centurion Posted 3 November , 2009 Posted 3 November , 2009 Hi Guys Thanks for the replies. If he served overseas he must be entitles to a medal. Not necessarily - only if he served in a theatre of war - if his overseas service had been in India for example he wouldn't be entitled.
themonsstar Posted 3 November , 2009 Posted 3 November , 2009 If in did served in India he would get the British War Medal. The SWB rolls are not online.
ianmccallum Posted 4 November , 2009 Author Posted 4 November , 2009 He definintly didnt serve in India but he may have went to France. What could have happened to his medal card. Ian
