Steve Gullick Posted 29 October , 2009 Posted 29 October , 2009 My father in law is trying to find this place, it is where two of his uncles met by chance in 1918 - where do I start to look? If it can be found, and if it still exists, we want to visit it next year. jossw Posted 29 October , 2009 Posted 29 October , 2009 Reumont comes up on google maps, South East of Cambrai.
Roger H Posted 29 October , 2009 Posted 29 October , 2009 Steve. I can't help with the location of the estaminet, and I guess you know where Reumont is. If not, it is on N543, approximately 8km South West of Le Cateau. Apolgies if you already know this. Roger Edit: jossw obviously types faster than me!
Steve Gullick Posted 29 October , 2009 Author Posted 29 October , 2009 Hi Guys Thanks for this, I didn't know where 'Rumont'was, I have a little problem with dyslexia and have been spelling it wrong on the search engines. Is it far from any notable areas from WW1? We will be staying at Ypres when we go next year and will be visiting the Somme area (Perrone in particular) is it on the way between these places or is it a special trip out? THanks
stevew Posted 29 October , 2009 Posted 29 October , 2009 Look like it's about 2 hours from Ieper - you could do it on your way to Peronne Steve
IPT Posted 29 October , 2009 Posted 29 October , 2009 It's a shame that Google Maps StreetView doesn't run through the village. We could have had a look.
