Lt. L.M.R. McLaglen - KRRC

Lt. Lewis Mowbray Rutgers McLaglen was one of 8 sons who fought in WWI. His more famous brother Victor, went on to win an Academy Award for his portrayal of action heroes in Hollywood.

Lewis is a bit of a mystery and, having tried to find out more about him on another Forum I now turn to the experts. The surname is sometimes misspelt as McLaglan but, irrespective of this fact, I still can't find his Officers file in the TNA. His MIC is there for all to see but not much else.

I have been made aware that he transferred to the RASC at some stage and the he was wounded as well but when this happened is unknown.

If anyone has any info on this chap it will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hope you are well !

No luck for me either on NA ! His brother is there Lt V,WO374/44874,and another McLaglen

FGA in WO339/44618. Could it be that he served beyond 1921 and thus his record is not yet in the public domain ?

I can look in the Army List in November. Let me know by mid-month if you wish me to do that.

His WW2 records should still be with the MOD - have you tried to access those ?

There are 6 McLaglen MICs ... do you know if any /all are related ? maybe looking for another member of the family will give clues to Lewis !

Thank you one and all for your assistance.

McLaglen seems to have been an interesting character who went on to serve in the Sudan Defence Force with the rank "Bambashi" in WWII.

Best regards
